چکیده

21 A theoretical effective thermal conductivity model is derived based on fractal 22 distribution characteristics of nanoparticle aggregation. Considering two different 23 mechanisms of heat conduction including particle aggregation and convention, the 24 model is expressed as a function of the fractal dimension and concentration. In the 25 model, the change of fractal dimension is related to the variation of aggregation shape. 26 The theoretical computations of the developed model provide a good agreement with 27 the experimental results, which may serve as an effective approach for quantitatively 28 estimating the effective thermal conductivity of nanofluids. 29 30 Highlights 31 A thermal conductivity model is derived based on fractal aggregation distribution. 32 The relationship between aggregation shape and fractal dimension is analyzed. 33 Predictions of the proposed model show good agreement with experimental data. 34 35

Effect of Aggregation on Thermal Conduction in Colloidal Nanofluids

Using effective medium theory the authors demonstrate that the thermal conductivity of nanofluids can be significantly enhanced by the aggregation of nanoparticles into clusters. Predictions of the effective medium theory are in excellent agreement with detailed numerical calculation on model nanofluids involving fractal clusters and show the importance of cluster morphology on thermal conducti...

Nanofluids for Heat Transfer Enhancement – A Review

A nanofluid is a dilute liquid suspension of particles with at least one critical dimension smaller than ~100 nm. Research works so far suggest that nanofluids offer excellent heat transfer enhancement over conventional base fluids. The enhancement depends on several factors such as particle shape, particle size distribution, volume fraction of nanoparticles, temperature, pH, and thermal conduc...

Effect of nanoparticle clustering on the effective thermal conductivity of concentrated silica colloids.

Recent research on nanofluids has offered particle clustering as a possible mechanism for the abnormal enhancement of the effective thermal conductivity (k) when nanoparticles are dispersed in liquids. This paper was devoted to verify experimentally and theoretically the significance of the effect by altering the cluster structure, size distribution, and thermal conductivity of solid particles ...

The thermal conductivity investigation of nanofluids containing decorated Ag nanorods with Cu nanoparticles using statistical method

In this paper, we investigated the statistical analysis of thermal conductivity of nanofluids containing of decorated Ag nanorods with Cu nanoparticles. For this purpose Ag-Cu hybrid is synthesized and characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD). TEM image shows that Cu nanoparticles successfully decorate on the outer surface of Ag nanorods. Th...

Thermal and electrical conductivity of Aluminium Nitride nanofluids

This study was designed to experimentally measure the thermal and electrical conductivities of Aluminium Nitride/Ethylene Glycol (AlN/EG) nanofluids. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to characterize the shape of AlN nanoparticles. Nanofluids with different particle volume concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% were utilized. The thermal and electrical conductivities of the...
